A Digital Interpretation Centre at a cost of Rs. 1 crore for tourists would be constructed at Harike where they would be provided information with regard to the Harike lake, migratory birds as well as animals such as Dolphin and Gharial. This was disclosed by the Forest and Wildlife Preservation Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak during the 4th State level bird festival 2023 at the Canal Rest House in Harike.
 
The Minister said that today a special program has been organized dedicated to the Bird Day. He further added that the Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is undertaking special efforts to save the forest and the wild animals inhabiting there. Harike is a very picturesque area of Punjab which would be developed as an epicentre of tourism by the State Government, said Mr. Kataruchak and appealed to the people of Punjab to ensure conservation of birds, animals apart from the trees and forests just like they love their own family members as these form an inseparable part of our lives and culture.
 
Divulging more, the Minister said that a critical care unit, the first in Punjab, has been set up at Chhatbir Zoo for the treatment of animals and birds. Besides, an open air zoo Education plaza too has been established at chhatbir zoo apart from metal barriers. Also, the leopard enclosure and gharial enclosure have come up at Patiala with Ludhiana Zoo having cafeteria and Boundary Wall.
 
Addressing on the occasion, the Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar exhorted the Punjabis especially the residents of Harike to love and protect nature because if we would love birds, animals and nature then that sentiment would be reciprocated. He also appealed to the farmers of the area to not burn crop residue as it harms the environment, animals and humans too.

Srivastava, DC Tarn Taran Rishi Pal Singh, ACCF Dharminder Sharma, Ganana Prakash, DFO Wildlife Ferozepur Lakhwinder Singh, Forest Range Officer Kamaljit Singh, DFO Kulraj Singh Sahota and Senior Coordinator Punjab WWF Geetanjali Kanwar.
