Aapda Mitra Volunteers took demo training on flood rescue operations
Prof. J.S. Bhatia and MAGSIPA team taught the volunteers how a drowning person can be saved by pulling him out in time.
To provide relief during any kind of natural or man made disaster, Government of India, NDMA, SDMA Punjab, DDMA Tarntaran and Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration Chandigarh started a 12 days Aapda Mitra training camp in two batches of 150-150 volunteers each in Seva Devi College Tarntaran and Shaheed Bhagat Singh School Patti to provide assistance in case of earthquake, flood, fire, accident or other disasters and they were given training, demo’s, mock drills to deal with any type of disaster. During this highly qualified and trained instructors of MAGSIPA are giving training to the volunteers. Under this today volunteers were given demo training on flood rescue operations in which volunteers were trained in floating, crossing the river and saving a drowning person. With this instructors trained the volunteers how a drowning person can be saved by bringing him out in time. On this occasion Prof. Bhatia addressed the media that under this scheme his magsipa team is preparing 3200 fully trained aapda mitra volunteers in Punjab, under which 300 volunteers are being prepared in Tarntaran district, who can respond to any disaster in coordination with district administration. He said that the volunteers have been trained to save the injured person in a road accident and these volunteers will be capable of saving the injured person in any road accident. In this camp, trainers of Aapda Mitra Scheme Shatrughan Sharma (PA to Course Director), Sunil Jaryal, Yogesh Uniyal, Amanpreet Kaur, Harkirat Singh, Jiwanjot Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Sachin Sharma, Noor Nisha and Preeti Devi are training the volunteers.
