Nehru Yuva Kendra Tarn Taran, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India organized a Swachhta hi sewa campaign in village Warian today under the supervision of District Youth Officer Jasleen Kaur. The cleanliness drive was carried out in collaboration with Namdhari Sports Club.
Harjit singh, chairman of Namdhari Sports Club , Shamsher Singh, President of President of Namdhari Sports Club, Sarpanch of Village, others members of the club were present in this program.
At the beginning of the program, all the participants took Swacchtta Pledge.
After pledge the cleanliness drive along with swachhta rally was carried out in the streets of village Warian. Members of the club also collected single-use plastic near amrit sarovar. Under the leadership of Nehru Yuva Kendra Tarn Taran, everyone together collected about 200 kg of plastic and disposed of this plastic waste.
District Youth Officer Jasleen Kaur said that this Swachhta hi sewa campaign is launched throughout the country from 17th September to 2nd October in which different sections of the society especially youth are coming forward and participate in this cleanliness campaign. These mega drives are being run in various villages of the district through youth clubs.
The District Youth Officer appealed to all the youth to spread this Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to as many people as possible. Jasleen Kaur appealed to the local people to actively participate in this campaign and stop using single-use plastic and use metal bottles and cloth bags instead. The District Youth Officer informed about the harm caused to the environment and people by single- use plastic.
District Youth Officer Mrs. Jasleen Kaur informed that till now Nehru Yuva Kendra has conducted cleanliness drives at more than 100 places in the district in collaboration with the youth clubs.
