Brain Storming Session on Direct Seeded Rice at FASC Tarn Taran
FASC Tarn Taran in collaboration with Department of Agronomy Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana conducted Brain Storming Session on Direct Seeded Rice. About 35 participants doing DSR participated in this programme. Dr Parvinder Singh, Incharge, FASC, Tarn Taran started the session by welcoming the farmers, experts from PAU, Ludhiana and Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Tarn Taran. Open discussion was carried out regarding success under the technique and problems faced by the farmers during past years. Various farmers shared their experiences regarding Tar- Wattar and Dry Sowing of Direct Seeded Rice. Farmers also discussed the various hurdles which were faced during the adoption of the technology. Dr Jasvir Singh Gill, Agronomist, Department of Agronomy, PAU, Ludhiana highlighted the modifications made in lucky seed drill for effective sowing of Direct Seeded rice, time of sowing, depth of sowing, and other Agronomic practices. He also attended the various queries raised by the farmers regarding DSR. Dr Parminder Kaur, SES (PP) stressed upon integrated approach regarding insect/ pest and disease management in DSR. Dr Parminder Singh Sandhu, DES (Agronomy) discussed with farmers about effective weed management in DSR. S. Jaswinder Singh Gill, S. Chanan Singh Sran, S. Dharambir Singh Sohal, S. Bikramjeet Singh, S Tarseem Singh, S Sher Singh, S Jagir Singh, S Lakhwinder Singh, S Krishan Kumar and various other farmers shared their views and were thankful to Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana for this initiative. Dr Bhupinder Singh and Dr Sandeep Singh officials from Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Tarn Taran were also present. At the end of the session vote of thanks was given by Dr Savreet Khehra, DES (Fruits) to all the participants.
