Nehru Yuva Kendra Tarn Taran organized “Catch the Rain” program in Government School Sheron

Tarn Taran, 31 May:

          Nehru Yuva Kendra Tarn Taran, Government of India Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organized “catch the Rain” program in Government School Sheron under the leadership of District Youth Officer Madam Jasleen Kaur. Madam Jasleen Kaur, District Social Security Officer Madam Kirtpreet kaur, Principal of Government School Sheron Madam Jagroop Kaur, school teachers and volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra were present in this program.

          On this occasion, the District Youth Officer Madam Jasleen Kaur while throwing light on the “Catch the Rain” campaign appealed to the youth to collect the rain water and use it for various purposes in their homes. He appealed to all the youth to use water properly, not to waste water and to make people aware about it.

          Retired Principal Gurdeep Singh explained about the current water situation. He explained how the ground water level is going down and now the water has gone down to 150 feet. He said that the main reason for the increase in cancer patients in Punjab is the consumption of dirty water. There is a need to create awareness among panchayats and farmers to save water on this occasion in Punjab.

          On this occasion, besides releasing the poster of the “Catch the Rain” campaign, a corner play and quiz competition was also organized under the “Catch the Rain” campaign. The winners of the quiz competition were awarded by the Nehru Yuva Kendra.

          Gurinder Singh, Jagrup Singh and Harpreet Singh, volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra, performed street play on theme “Save water, save lives” and discussed various ways to save water.
