The international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was observed at Civil Hospital, Tarn Taran

Tarn Taran, June 26 :
The international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was observed at Civil Hospital, Tarn Taran on Wednesday. The event was held under the supervision of Civil Surgeon, Dr Bharat Bhushan and conducted by Senior Medical Officer, Dr Ramandeep Singh Padda. The students of various nursing colleges took part in the event against drugs.
In his address, Civil Surgeon Dr Bharat Bhushan said  ” The main objective of this day is create awareness against drug abuse and its illicit trafficking and the day is effective tool for the well being of society especially youth”.
He said “The evidence is clear, invest in prevention” is United Nations theme for international day this year so it is our responsibility to stand against drug abuse for healthy surroundings”.
SMO, Dr Padda said “The health department conducts rallies  and seminars against drugs in the area even we are running Out patients Opioid Assistance Treatment  (OOAT) clinic where we are treating drug addicts”.
He said “Many of addicts had left taking drug and now they are part of mainstream and many have decided to leave it through counseling session.
Assistant Civil Surgeon, Dr. Devi Bala, District immunization officer, Dr Varinder Kaur and District Family Welfare Officer, Dr Ashish Gupta were also present.
