Under 75th Azadi Ka Mahautsav, an event was organised to celebrate breastfeeding week on 06/08/2022 in village Rampur Bhutwind by anganwadi workers and supervisors Harbhajan Kaur and Daljit Kaur under guidance of CDPO Malkiat Kaur. Around 20 pregnant and nursing mothers were there in the event. Ladies were made aware about importance of breast milk and advised to provide only breast milk to newborns up to 6 months and can continue up to 2 years with complimentary diet. Breast milk prevents newborns from infectious diseases, helps to develop immunity, beneficial for digestion and optimal growth. Pregnant ladies are advised to take iron rich diet like beans and fortified cereals, breastfeeding mothers should add iron rich diet for their babies’ growth.we should clean our surroundings. Breast feeding is extremely important for the healthy growth and development of an infants and is an overwhelming experience for a mother.
